Book Launch: Class Action

Join us for the launch of Class Action: How Ontario’s Elementary Teachers Became a Political Force, with author Andy Hanson and guests!

REGISTER: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/book-launch-class-action-tickets-186233488377

Class Action is the first independent history of how the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) came into being, a merger of the women’s and men’s elementary teachers unions in 1998, a time of massive labour mobilization. But the story goes much beyond what happened that year, and the implications are still being felt today.

Hear from author Andy Hanson, a former ETFO local executive and a recent PhD graduate, in conversation with:

Shirley Bell, current ETFO vice-president, and former president of the Kawartha Pine Ridge ETFO local

Bryan Palmer, professor emeritus, Trent University, and author of many history and labour books

Vivian McCaffrey, former ETFO coordinator of communications and political action

There will be brief remarks from the speakers, followed by a discussion and questions from the audience.

You can find Class Action at your local bookstore and library, or buy it directly from our webstore.
