BTL Internship Opportunity

Position Publishing internship

Wages $6,000 contract ($500/week for 12 weeks)

Hours Flexible, offices are open 9:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday, closed on Friday

Candidates We are looking for young, politically-minded applicants who want to join the independent publishing industry. Successful applicants will join our office collective’s non-hierarchical structure and participate fully in the day-to-day operations of our non-fiction press. The publishing internship position provides a successful candidate with a full range of experience in each publishing department and allows for self-directed work based on the candidate’s preferences, strengths, and areas of interest.

Responsibilities A successful candidate will work with our staff in each department, including: marketing and sales, editorial, publicity, production and design, Information Technology, and finance and administration. Individualized projects, tasks, and goals are discussed and assigned in a collaborative process with all staff members to ensure that the internship is specifically tailored to a successful applicant’s strengths, preferences, and availability. Our internship position is designed to provide experience to the successful applicant that is portable within the industry.

Tasks will include assisting with the general work of the press and each staff member but will also include projects designed in collaboration with the successful applicant that will focus on a range of possible areas such as market research, event planning and media outreach, community outreach, conducting author interviews, and writing content for social and other media promotion.
