Human Evolution at a Crossroads: Ecological Collapse, or a Sustainable Future?

Speaker Series: Kevin MacKay

In this two-part lecture series, Kevin MacKay, professor and author of Radical Transformation: Oligarchy, Collapse, and the Crisis of Civilization, explores the existential challenges facing our industrial, capitalist society. Through understanding the causes behind ecological destruction and human conflict, we can then envision new ways of being on the earth and viable pathways toward a sustainable future. The first lecture contends with the latest research on why societies fail, and on how ecological crisis, social inequality, and oligarchic political systems are fundamentally intertwined. The second lecture addresses the question of how to re-orient the trajectory of human evolution from collapse to sustainability.
