He has been active in numerous NGO’s and community organizations as well as being a research fellow at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies Program at Conrad Grebel College in the University of Waterloo. For his lifelong dedication to these causes Ernie Regehr was awarded the Order of Canada in 2003 and the Pearson Peace Medal in 2011.
