Justin Piché
Justin Piché is associate professor in the Department of Criminology and director of the Carceral Studies Research Collective at the University of Ottawa. He is also co-editor of the Journal of Prisoners on Prisons, a founding member of the Criminalization and Punishment Education Project, and researcher for the Carceral Cultures Research Initiative. His research examines how criminalization and confinement is justified and resisted during state campaigns to expand carceral controls and in popular culture.

Vincenzo Pietropaolo
Vincenzo Pietropaolo is an award-winning photographer whose work has been widely published in Canada and abroad. An Italian-Canadian, he and his family immigrated to Canada in 1959. He is the author of Celebration of Resistance: Ontario’s Days of Action (1999), Not Paved with Gold: Italian-Canadian Immigrants in the 1970s (2006), and Harvest Pilgrims: (2010), as well as many other books. In 2010 he was awarded the Cesar E. Chavez Black Eagle Award (Cultural) by the UFCW for his work photographing migrant workers and recording their stories. This work is the basis of Harvest Pilgrims.

David Pilgrim is a professor, orator, and human rights activist. He is best known as the founder and curator of the Jim Crow Museum—a ten-thousand-piece collection of racist artifacts located at Ferris State University, which uses objects of intolerance to teach about race, race relations, and racism.

He is a writer on political conflicts and social movements, and has reported from numerous countries including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Pakistan, Haiti and Israel/ Palestine. He is a contributor to Empire’s Ally: Canadian Foreign Policy and the War in Afghanistan (2012).
